Overview
Shrink a PDF by redrawing each page as a JPEG. Compare the new size before you download. The file stays on this device. The file never leaves this tab.
What this page covers

Quick answer
Shrink a PDF by redrawing each page as a JPEG. Compare the new size before you download. The file stays on this device. The file never leaves this tab. Use it in a browser with no account required, then review the output before publishing or shipping.
How the smaller file is made
Each page is drawn as a JPEG and placed on a new page of the same size. That often shrinks photo scans. A PDF that is already small text may come out larger. The status line tells you both sizes.
What you lose
The new file is a picture of the pages. You cannot select the original text, and links are not copied. These pages do not convert PDF to Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, and they do not run OCR. Password-protected files are refused.
Unlock a file in the app that created it before you open it here. A signature stamp is an image, not a certificate that proves who signed.
Privacy
After the page loads, the file is read in this browser. Case Modify does not receive a copy. Close the tab to discard it. Very large files and PDFs over 30 pages are refused so the tab stays responsive.
How to use this tool
- Open a PDF. Password-protected files are refused.
- Set the JPEG quality and compare the new size with the original.

Limits to keep in mind
Free browser utilities excel at quick edits, classroom exercises, and copy-paste formatting. They are not a replacement for licensed design software, production build pipelines, or compliance review.
When a platform rejects styled Unicode, fall back to plain ASCII from a case converter or remove formatting before you submit final copy.

Frequently asked questions
Will quality stay the same?
No. JPEG redrawing throws away detail. Lower the quality slider only as far as the page still looks acceptable.
Why did the file get bigger?
Text PDFs are already compact. A JPEG of the same page can weigh more. Keep the original in that case.
Is it uploaded?
No. Compression runs in this browser.
