Banners from typing, or a picture sampled as characters
Type a short word for a block banner, or pick an image to map brightness onto ASCII characters. This is a visualization—not OCR. It will not read the words in a photo of a document.
When ASCII art is the wrong deliverable
A 400-column dump is unreadable on mobile and is thin content if you publish it as a blog. Big Text Generator is the letter-banner sibling without an image sampler. Word clouds visualize frequency, not pixels.
Contrast, width, and privacy
Dark photos need contrast tweaks before they look like anything. Width is limited so the tab stays responsive. The image is decoded in the browser and is not uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Can this extract text from a screenshot?
No. That would be OCR, which this page does not do. It only maps darkness to characters.
Why is the art a gray smear?
Low contrast or a tiny source. Use a high-contrast crop and a moderate width.
Is color ASCII supported?
The default is a character ramp. Color ANSI art would be a different renderer.
